    报告摘要:
Moving Dynamic Traffic Simulation and Assignment Models from Laboratory to Trench, and to an Integrated World
Traffic analysis tools have been increasingly used in critical informed decision making in the development and implementation of various traffic management strategies in the U.S. The complexity associated with urban mobility management calls for integrated modeling capabilities with the goals to better understand the inter-dependence of various demand and supply relationships. DynusT, one of the leading and widely used open source simulation-based dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) models, has been playing an important role in such a modeling evolution. In this talk, we will review DynusT various theoretical advancements and how they support the emerging urban mobility management areas. Real-world case studies are also discussed
Measuring Arterial Performance in a Big Data World
Over the past decades, transportation research has been mathematical-equation driven or relied on scarce data. Data-driven or data-based research is expected to expand in the near future with the increasing data collected from intelligent transportation system sensors on arterial and freeway networks. Even if transportation data are ubiquitous, data usability is difficult to improve due to many challenges, including inconsistent data connections, data quality control, query performance, traffic prediction, and computational limitations. This presentation will talk about these challenges and also provides practical solutions to facilitate data retrieval and integration, and enhances traffic data usability.
    报告人简介:
    Dr. Yi-Chang Chiu
Dr. Chiu (PhD. UT-Austin 2002, Transportation Engineering) is the Associate Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Arizona and Founder of Metropia Inc. Dr. Chiu's research activities include theoretical development and applications of dynamic traffic simulation and assignment models for regional and corridor analysis, including congestion pricing, multi-resolution simulation assignment theories and applications, large-scale emergency evacuation modeling, system dynamics and interdependence modeling, and intelligent transportation system modeling. Dr. Chiu is the principal developer of the open source DTA model DynusT, currently used by 400+ agency users world-wide.
    Dr. Yao-Jan Wu
Dr. Yao-Jan Wu is an assistant professor of transportation engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at the University of Arizona (UA) and the faculty adviser of the UA Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) student chapter. Before joining the UA, Yao was an assistant professor at Saint Louis University (2011~2013) and postdoc at the University of Virginia (2011). Yao received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington, Seattle in 2010. Currently, he serves as Transportation Research Board (TRB) University Representative, and an official Young Member of both the Highway Traffic Monitoring Committee (ABJ35) and the Urban Transportation Data and Information Systems Committee (ABJ30). Dr. Wu’s research interests highlight a strong connection between information technology (IT) and traditional transportation research.
